DC Head Coach Hemang Badani (Image Credit: ANI) Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani faced tough questions about his team’s performance and tactical decisions following their defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2026 on Tuesday.Delhi Capitals suffered a top-order collapse and could not recover on the tricky Arun Jaitley Stadium surface, eventually losing to CSK by eight wickets. The defeat marked DC’s fourth home loss of the season. From record-breaking runs to dramatic batting collapses, the Arun Jaitley Stadium has witnessed extreme scoring disparities this season. Here are DC’s results at their home Arun Jaitley Stadium in IPL 2026: DateOpponentResultKey Highlight4 AprilMumbai IndiansWon by 6 wicketsSame Rizvi named man of the match8 AprilGujarat TitansLost by 1 round GT score 210/4; DC not out April 25Punjab KingsLost by 6 wicketsPBKS chased a massive 264/227 AprilRoyal Challengers BengaluruLost by 9 wicketsDC bundled out for season-low 75 runs5 MayChennai Super KingsLost by 8 wicketsSanju guide Samson’s C87*unbea win
Badani was questioned if the decision to bat first failed on the difficult surface. Responding to the criticism, he explained that the franchise has very little control over the nature of the pitch curated despite the Arun Jaitley Stadium being the home venue of the Delhi Capitals.“We don’t have any control over the surfaces. It’s much easier for a side to build 20 overs and then understand what the surface will be like when they bat second, and that’s basically what happened. I thought the game was lost in the first 10 overs when we didn’t have enough; we were about 70 for 5, and you don’t want to be 70 for 5, even though it was 70 and a bit down for us. To understand what we’re going to get in Delhi, which is our home, one game was 265 but neither side has little control over the surfaces,” Hemang Badani said during the post-match press conference.
