Hasan Ali gave Pakistan a scare on the opening day of the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet after suffering a nasty blow to the head while attempting a reverse catch. The incident took place in the eighth over of Bangladesh’s innings when opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim bounced the ball back towards the bowler. Hasan dived hard to his right to grab the return catch, but landed awkwardly and landed hard on the right side of his head.Concern immediately spread across the field as the Pakistan pacer looked visibly dazed and struggled to regain his balance as medical staff rushed to treat him. After several minutes of assessment, Hasan was eventually placed on a stretcher and carried off the field, forcing stand-in captain Salman Ali Agha to complete the remainder of the skip.Fortunately for Pakistan, the injury scare did not prove serious enough to rule Hasan out of the competition. The fast bowler returned to the field at the start of the 16th over and resumed in the 19th over, allaying fears in the Pakistan camp.Prior to the incident, Pakistan were off to a dominant start after winning the deciding toss in overcast conditions in Sylhet. Their seam attack made brilliant use of the helpful conditions, with Mohammad Abbas striking in the very first over by dismissing Mahmudul Hasan Joy. Abbas later also removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim after the Bangladeshi opener threw away a promising start.Mominul Haque looked composed at the crease but lost concentration briefly and was cleaned up by a superb inswinger from Mir Hamza Shahzad. At lunch, veteran batsmen Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim tried to carefully rebuild the innings on a lively pitch that continued to offer movement for the seamers while rewarding disciplined batting.
