Harshit Rana is unlikely to be fit for Afghanistan T20I, Bumrah is on his way back

Indian pacer Harshit Rana is unlikely to make it to the three-match series against Afghanistan starting here on September 13.

Rana, who last played for India on the tour of England, he was included in India’s squad for three games in Delhi, subject to fitness. He was also named in the Asian Games squad.

“He is yet to fully recover from his hamstring injury. He will need more time,” a BCCI source said.

Rana was nursing a hamstring injury as Washington Sundar was deemed fit for the Afghanistan series.

Leading paceman Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Nitish Reddy, nursing knee and quadriceps injuries, were also included in India’s fitness squad.

Bumrah has been sidelined since India’s ODI tour in England in July with a left knee injury.

“Both Bumrah and Reddy are well on their way back,” the source added.

After the Afghanistan series, India are playing a one-off match against Japan in Tokyo on September 22. They open their Asian Games on September 28.
