Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) said on Thursday that he received the third GE 404 engine from General Electric (GE) for a light combat aircraft (LCA) MK1A.
The defensive dog based in Bengalur said that while the third engine of GE 404 was received, the fourth will be delivered by the American company by the end of the month.
“The HAL received the third GE 404 engine for LCA MK1A. Another engine is planned by the end of September. Improving the engine’s supply chain will prepare a way for LCA MK1A supplies,” Hal said in a statement.
In January 2021, the Cabinet Committee for Safety approved a contract of 73 LCA MK1A fighter aircraft and 10 LCA Tejas MK1 aircraft for 45,696 Crore, along with the design and development of infrastructure in 1,202 Gbor Crore.
According to the plan, the delivery of all 83 aircraft would have to be completed in eight years.
“The HAL will deliver the first three aircraft in the third year and 16 aircraft per year in the next five years,” the Ministry of Defense said in February 2021.
However, there was a delay in the LCA MK1as.
In February, Aero India 2025 criticized the dog for a delay in February and said “just not sure” halls.
However, the Hall said that the delay in handing over the aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF) was caused by problems with the GE supply chain.
“When the boss of IAF mentioned (delayed) in February, we did not have the only GE engine, although the dragon was ready. The first engine came in April and is now getting a second engine. That’s why the deliveries were detained,” Hindu told Hindu in July.
Mr. Sunil said that if GE delivers 12 GE 404 engines, as is ensured, the halls will be able to have 12 aircraft ready by the end of this financial year.
HAL placed 99 GE 404 engines from the American engine manufacturer.
