An international kabaddi player and member of the Indian rugby team, Kalyan Bainsla, an accused in the Gurugram road rage case, identifies himself on Instagram.
Bainsla is accused of allegedly hitting a female motorcyclist, identified as Sia, with his boyfriend’s vehicle on Sunday. The impact knocked her off her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike and sent her skidding several meters down the road, footage captured by a camera mounted on her bike showed.
Bainsla also runs two to three gyms and works as a trainer. He claimed to have won a bodybuilding tournament in India. His photos and details from social media accounts are now widely circulated following the incident.

On Sunday, Bainsla allegedly rammed his friend’s Maruti Ciaz motorcycle from the side. Sia was thrown from her bike in the impact, with footage captured by a camera mounted on her motorbike showing her skidding several meters down the road.
Bainsla reportedly fled the scene after the incident. The female biker later shared her account of the incident in an Instagram video.
According to Sia, she was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sport bike with a group of bikers when a car started following them. She claimed that Bainsla approached her and started misbehaving. When she asked him to stop and keep his distance, he allegedly asked her to stop the bike. She further claimed that Bainsla appeared drunk.
According to police officials, the car was registered in the name of Manish.
Manish acknowledged that the vehicle was registered in his name but said he was not driving it at the time of the incident.
“I work in the army and yes it is my vehicle. I was at work and my friend Kalyan Singh borrowed my car,” he said.
While she did not initially file a complaint, Sia said in a subsequent Instagram post that she would file an FIR with her lawyer and take legal action.

What did the defendant say
According to PTI, Bainsla said he ran away from the spot as he feared he would be beaten up by a group of bikers. He said he was traveling with his family and did not make any gestures towards the woman.
“I simply asked her to ride the bike slowly. I admit there was a collision. Had I stopped right then, those people would have beaten us up,” he told PTI.
He further claimed that he asked the woman and the man accompanying her to slow down after a group of 20 to 22 motorcyclists passed him. He denied hitting her on purpose.
“She was turning without checking her mirrors; just at that moment, close to the bend, I lost control of the car and the collision happened. It was my fault, I accept that,” he said.
Bainsla also accused the bikers of hurling abuse at him. He said he feared for his family’s safety, which is why he didn’t stop after the incident.
What the cops said
After the video went viral, the Gurugram police took suo motu cognizance of the incident and registered a case against the accused driver under sections 281 (rash while driving) and 125 (causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 56 police station, ACP (headquarters) Abhilaksh Joshi said.
Raids are underway to nab the accused. According to ACP Abhilaksh Joshi, three special teams were formed to nab Bainsla. He added that legal action would be taken against all those involved in the incident.
