The accused in the Gurugram woman biker hit and run case has broken his silence on the matter. The accused, identified as Karan Kalyan Baisla, said he did not know the biker was a woman. He denied hitting her on purpose and said he was being teased by a group of bikers.

The incident took place on Golf Course Road in Gurugram on Sunday when a speeding car rammed into a woman on a bike. The impact knocked her off the motorcycle and sent her skidding several meters down the road. Her bike dragged the car onto the road.

The defendant admitted that he was at fault for the accident. He said he fled the scene fearing he might be attacked by bikers.

The video of the accident has now gone viral on social media, sparking outrage over It. The video was shared by the victim. According to PTI, Bainsla said he lost control of his car near a bend, causing the collision.

The victim’s sports bike is identified as Siya, according to her social media posts. She claimed that Bainsla hit her from the side with his car while overtaking her.

Siya suffered minor injuries. The entire incident was captured by a camera mounted on her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike.

The accused admits the mistake

Bainsla, who owns a gym, described himself as an international kabaddi player. According to PTI, he told a news channel that he was traveling with his sister and two cousins ​​when the incident took place.

“I was traveling with my family. I didn’t make any gestures to the young woman, I just asked her to ride her bike slowly. I admit there was a collision. If I had stopped immediately, those people would have beaten us up,” he said.

Bainsla claimed that about 20 to 22 motorcyclists passed him. He said he didn’t realize there was a woman among them. He said he asked them to slow down.

“She was taking a turn without checking her mirrors; just at that moment, close to the bend, I lost control of the car and the collision took place. It was my fault, I admit it,” he said, according to PTI.

‘I’m being harassed’

Bainsla said he told his brother they should pull over after the collision. After the bikers started abusing him, he said he changed his mind.

“My family was with me so I was afraid they might beat us up if we stopped. I even stopped the car at a red light to talk to them and explained it wasn’t my fault. After that my brother refused to stop there,” he said.

“There is not a single case against me from the past. Now I am being harassed,” he added.

In the viral video, he said: “You think I hit girls’ bikes on the roads?”

“If I was going to hit somebody, I’d hit them from behind,” he said.

“I didn’t know there was a woman among them,” he also said, adding: “There were 22-23 people among them. Why were only two shown in this video? I said, ‘It’s good that you’re driving well, but don’t insult us again and again. You’re going to get hurt’.”

“I tried very hard to save them,” he continued.

“I’m not lying,” he said detachedly, adding, “I was sick of that girl.”

Naveen Bainsla, counsel for the accused, told the media, “My client was returning from a relative’s place in Delhi with his family. Around 25 riders kept overtaking my client; the woman was driving at a speed of 140-170 kmph when she turned right and my client left, leading to a collision.”

The car involved in the accident was registered in the name of Manish, who said his friend Kalyan had borrowed his vehicle. “I work in the army and yes it is my vehicle. I was at work and my friend Kalyan Singh borrowed my car,” said Manish.

Blaming the victims

According to the victim, Siya was riding her sport bike with a group of cyclists on Golf Course Road when a car started following them. She claimed that residents approached her and began misbehaving. She said that when she asked them to keep their distance, they asked her to stop the bike.

She also claimed that the driver of the car appeared to be drunk.

Siya said the car subsequently hit her motorcycle from the side while overtaking, causing her to fall, as shown in the video.

Siya said she would file an FIR by Monday evening and take legal action.

The Gurugram police took suo motu cognizance of the incident after the video surfaced on social media. A case has been registered against the accused driver under sections 281 (distracted driving) and 125 (causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 56 police station, ACP Abhilaksh Joshi confirmed.
