The day after it was opened, Hindu carried out reality on Tuesday to see if another loop on the overpass Hebal from the outer circular road (ORR) facilitated travel. Although it separated the operation from ORR and Airport Road, which previously joined on the narrow two lanes at the Hebbal overpass to separate lanes, there are still some narrow places and some others that are likely to appear when the project is completed.
Previously, the operation of two lanes of ORR loops and two lanes of airport roads merged into two lanes over the overpass and created a narrow profile to solve which traffic police operated a manual signal on the overpass. Now the operation of four lanes goes forward on four lanes and solves this narrow section.
Regular commuting and traffic police serve the intersection on Mondays and Tuesdays on Tuesday for top hours.
Suhas R., who works in Manyata Tech Park and takes a hebal overpass every day, said the new loop saved him at least 10-15 minutes. “During the evening peaks on Monday and Tuesday, not that there was no operation, but was moving. Previously, the traffic police operated a manual signal at the overpass that had previously stopped traffic. It is not now,” he said.
SRIDHAR GS, Jakur’s inhabitants who take the overpass from the airport to work every day, said on Tuesday morning during the top hours, exceeding the overpass in just 10 minutes, saying it was “incredible”. He said he was stuck for more than 20 minutes at the overpass.
Pradeep BU, the assistant of the Police Commissioner (Subdivision in the northeast), said that the new loop shortened the time to travel on the overpass Hebal and add another loop from the airport road towards MEKRI Circle will further help mitigate the overload.
Deputy Main Minister and Minister of Development Bengaluru DK Shivakumar announced on Monday that the second loop will be completed by December 2025.
New narrow places are likely to appear
However, new obstacles appear to appear in the region. “There is considerable overload in Mekhri Circle due to the narrow service road we have described. The civic body has already started to work on the expansion of the road and gained defensive ground,” said Mr. Pradeep.
“The Indian National Authority for the highway (Nhai) has also expanded after the expansion of the road along the mines over the overpass from the city towards the airport, which was to be completed until 15 August, but has not yet ended. Its timely completion will help alleviate at the other end and at the other end,” he added.
Meanwhile, the bus stop near the Baptist Hospital on the Down Ramp of Hebbal overpass causes some chaos in the traffic flow and slows it down. Previously, all traffic came to two lanes and the buses would come to the left and stop at the bus stop. But now the down -ramp of the new loop will land almost at the bus stop. While vehicles coming from the ORR loop have slightly right to connect to the airport road, buses coming from the airport road loop slightly left towards the bus stop. This leads to a crossing of traffic, where two overpass loops connect to the airport road.
“Small changes can make traffic at the intersection more efficient. Hebal bus stop must be moved either or a bus bay is built to prevent the intersection at the intersection.
The new loop, which is integrated into the overpass loop from Tumacuro Sidewill, is likely to cause 6 stripes. If the new loop is integrated into the new ORR loop, the same problem will be re -established from the two arms of the merger on one. Although the loop is separated from the ORR loop, the operation from six lanes landed on the airport road, which is 4 stripes wide and creates a narrow profile.
