Govt. plans to turn Kurnool into a sports hub, says Bharath

Industries and Commerce Minister TG Bharath Gupta said the government’s aim is to turn Kurnool into a sports hub.

The Minister on Wednesday inaugurated the football pitch at the Kurnool Outdoor Stadium developed at an outlay of ₹3.50 crore. On this occasion, the minister confirmed his commitment to the development of sports in the city.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said that though development work worth ₹3.50 crore has been completed, some other work is still in progress.

“We are committed to providing world-class facilities to sportspersons. We have given special attention to the development of volleyball, pickleball, football and kabaddi courts and also the installation of a synthetic walking track,” he said. He emphasized that special attention is paid to providing top-notch infrastructure for athletes. The minister also said that the TGV family has consistently provided support and cooperation for the development of sports in Kurnool.

Mr. Bharath said that the proposal to shift the sports hostel in the city to another location has been put on hold and the issues related to the gymnasium center have been resolved.

Mr. Bharath said that media representatives should use social media extensively to give wide publicity to the government’s development initiatives. He said that development activities across the state under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu were progressing rapidly and appealed to the public to fully support the alliance government in the upcoming elections.

The minister mingled with the players at the football stadium and started the exhibition match by kicking the ball. City commissioner Challa Obulesu, sports coaches, presidents of sports associations and players took part in the opening event.
