M. Maheshwar Rao, chief commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), has directed officials to prepare a plan for the construction of another flyover near the Iblur junction on the Outer Ring Road.
He said the construction of another flyover at the intersection would significantly reduce traffic congestion.
About 800 meters long flyover is required at Iblur junction, Mr. Rao said.
“In coordination with South City Corporation and BMRCL, steps should be taken for comprehensive development of Silk Board Junction, implementation of flood prevention measures and other related works,” he said.
The Chief Commissioner said that the roads under the Metro stations along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) are uneven and that due to the embankment work, the width of the road is gradually decreasing, which could lead to increased congestion. He directed the officials to inspect all metro stations along the ORR and immediately rectify the problems found.
As metro and other works are already underway in some sections, officials have been tasked to carry out the works in coordination with B-SMILE and strictly adhere to the approved comprehensive development plan.
