Incoming city police commissioner Tarun Joshi on Wednesday (June 3) directed officers to prioritize cyber crime prevention, road safety, drug enforcement and monsoon preparedness as part of a comprehensive police strategy to strengthen public safety across the commissionerate.
During the review meeting, the commissioner directed the officers to identify areas prone to flooding and waterlogging and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely response to emergencies during the rainy season.
Special emphasis was placed on creating public awareness about online fraud, digital arrest scams, fake investment schemes and social media related crimes. Police officers have been directed to ensure speedy registration and investigation of cyber crime cases and conduct awareness programs in schools, colleges, villages and public places.
The commissioner also called for strict enforcement against drunken driving, speeding and other traffic offences, along with regular road safety campaigns promoting the use of helmets, seat belts and responsible driving.
Instructions have been issued to strengthen visible policing through increased patrolling, intensify operations against drug offences, ensure that CCTV cameras and GPS-equipped police vehicles remain fully functional, and speed up investigations into cheating, financial fraud, unnatural deaths, land disputes and cases registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He urged the police to maintain close cooperation with the public and ensure effective implementation of all directives.
