England vs New Zealand: Full schedule, squads, live stream and everything you need to know

England begin their domestic summer with a three-Test series against New Zealand, starting at Lord’s on June 4. The series is part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and comes at an important time for both teams.

England head into the series looking to put behind them a disappointing Ashes campaign in Australia. Ben Stokes’ side came under intense scrutiny after the heavy defeat, but the management group comprising director of cricket Rob Key, head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Stokes remained intact. England are trying to rebuild.

There have already been significant changes in the player squad. England moved on from top-class batsmen Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope and gave opportunities to Durham opener Emilio Gay and young batsman Jacob Bethell. Gay impressed in the County Championship this season, while Bethell comes in after scoring his maiden Test century during the Ashes.

New Zealand, meanwhile, arrive in England full of confidence after their dominant innings and 79-run win over Ireland in Belfast. The Black Caps are currently second in the WTC table and will be hoping to strengthen their position with a strong showing in England.

One of the big themes for the visitors will be the return of fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke. The towering pair are expected to feature together in a full-strength New Zealand attack for the first time in Test cricket after recovering from a back injury.

There is also significant focus on Kane Williamson. The former New Zealand captain opted out of his central contract in 2024 and managed his international engagements on a series-by-series basis. Williamson is 35 and has admitted this will be his fifth and final Test appearance at Lord’s, with speculation continuing as to how much longer he will be available for New Zealand.

The last time these two teams met in a Test series, England secured a 2-1 victory during their tour of New Zealand in 2024.

WTC POINTS IN BETTING

The series is part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. New Zealand are currently second in the table with two wins from three matches, while England are seventh after playing ten Tests.

England enter the series on the back of an Ashes defeat in Australia, while New Zealand are coming off the back of a commanding win over Ireland. With key WTC points on offer and two evenly matched sides taking the field, the three-Test contest promises to be one of the highlights of the start of the English summer.
