Andhra University’s Department of Yoga and Consciousness hosted a free Ayurvedic Medicine Camp at Yoga Village on Beach Road on Sunday from 8 am to 11 am.
Dr. K. Eswara Rao, a retired senior doctor at King George Hospital, examined patients and distributed medicines free of charge. He said he held the camp every first Sunday of the month from 2022.
“A combination of yoga and Ayurveda can prevent 80% of primary diseases,” said Dr. Rao. He said that psychiatric problems and lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, obesity, gastritis and polycystic ovary disease (PCOD) were on the rise and that he believed they could be overcome with Ayurveda.
Dr. Rao said the university’s Department of Yoga and Consciousness has cooperated in providing the facility. He added that he also visits the department as a visiting faculty member to talk about the connection between yoga and Ayurveda.
Dr. Stating that his aim was to offer proper guidance and prescribe suitable Ayurvedic medicines, Rao said that people relying on advice from social media were drawn to wrong medicines and created a wrong impression about Ayurveda.
