The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of Sabarimala temple gold arrested former Travancore Devaswom board member KP Sankar Das at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Two days ago, the Kerala High Court strongly criticized the SIT for the alleged delay in arresting Mr. Sankar Das. He has been receiving treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit for the past few days. He was arrested shortly after being moved to a room.
The investigation team also subsequently informed the Kollam High Court about the arrest.
Earlier in the day, the court was dealing with the anticipatory bail application of Mr. Sankar Das. The hearing was adjourned until Friday after the prosecution requested more time to submit a report from the medical board investigating him.
Mr. Sankar Das, the 11th accused in the case, was a member when A. Padmakumar was the president of TDB.
