On Tuesday (April 29, 2025) the fire broke out in a multi -storey building in moss in the central Calcutta. Ten firefighters threw themselves into a place to control the fire that broke near Falpatti, wholesale fruit market.
One person died after a jump from the building to escape the fire. The multi -storey building where the fire broke out is the hotel on Madan Mohan Barman. There were residents inside the hotel when a fire broke out and panic was expanded between the people inside the building.

Police and firefighting goodies have repeatedly told people not to jump out of the building in panic. In the meantime, however, Manoj Paswan jumped from the top to save himself from the fire. He was transported to the Medical College Hospital and was declared dead.
Several people threw themselves on the balcony of the hotel and tried to descend from the building in panic. Two people were overthrown by fire ladders. More people could be trapped inside the building, because the efforts to fight fires were still on.
The injuries were taken to the Medical College Hospital Hospital. Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Firhad Hakim visited the place and evaluated measures against fire.
The fire occurred in an overloaded area where many shops are located, which came as a challenge as a measure against fire.
State President BJP Sukant Majumdar expressed condolence over death in the fire and called on the state administration to immediately save the disabled, ensure their safety and provide them with the necessary medical and humanitarian aid.
