On the second day of their hunger strike at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Sunday (April 26, 2026), leaders of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Organizations (FAPTO) warned that they would intensify their agitation if the government did not respond to their demands.
FAPTO president L. Sai Srinivas and general secretary S. Chiranjeevi said the hunger strike was part of the second phase of the organisation’s protest programme. Among the 17 demands submitted to the government, they demanded immediate setting up of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), announcement of 30% interim relief, implementation of uniform service rules, provision of compassionate appointments in local bodies, strengthening of secondary schools and institutions, release of pending installments of Care Allowance (DA) and settlement of resignation charges.
