An unclassified FBI report from the files of Jeffrey Epstein contains a series of unverified and inflammatory allegations about US President Donald Trump, Israel, Russia and a major Jewish religious movement, according to documents released by the US Department of Justice on Friday (Jan 30).
The memo, written in 2020, is part of an FBI investigation into possible improper domestic or foreign influence on the US political and electoral system. It is based solely on information provided by a confidential human source (CHS) and does not reflect the verified findings or conclusions of the FBI.
The document is among more than three million files related to Epstein that have been released as part of a massive declassification.
Allegations regarding Trump and Israel
According to the memo, a confidential source claimed that President Trump was “compromised by Israel” during his first term in office.
“Trump was compromised by Israel,” the FBI source said, adding that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was “the real brains of his organization and his presidency.”
The memo does not provide evidence to support the claim and does not indicate that the FBI substantiated it.
Claims of Chabad-Lubavitch
The document alleges that Chabad-Lubavitch, a global Orthodox Jewish movement founded in Russia in the 18th century, sought to exert influence over Trump’s presidency.
“CHS has advised Chabad that it is doing everything it can to co-opt the Trump presidency,” the memo said.
The source further claimed that Chabad functioned as a political tool of the Russian state.
“Chabad is essentially state-sanctioned Judaism. Putin uses it to keep track of all the Russian-Jewish oligarchs,” the memo quoted a source as saying.
Chabad-Lubavitch operates thousands of religious and educational centers around the world and has not been accused of political interference by US authorities.
Kushner named as backer
The memo identifies Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner as a Chabad supporter and a central figure in Trump’s inner circle.
It refers to the source’s claim that Kushner and Ivanka Trump visited the grave of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, a key Chabad leader, on the day Trump was elected president in 2016.
“On the day Trump was elected president, Ivanka Trump and Jared (Kushner) were at the grave of Rabbi Schneersom (sic),” the memo said.
Epstein and the intelligence allegations
The memo also includes allegations about convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who says he cooperated with US and foreign intelligence services.
“CHS has come to believe that Epstein was a co-opted Mossad agent,” the memo said, noting that the claim was based on an assessment of the source and a prior FBI report.
The source further claimed that Epstein had ties to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who previously served in senior roles in Israeli military intelligence.
“Epstein was close to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and trained as a spy under him,” the report added.
Public records show Barak made several visits to Epstein’s New York townhouse between 2013 and 2017, though Barak has denied any wrongdoing.
Link by Alan Dershowitz
The document refers to an alleged conversation between Epstein’s former lawyer, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, and then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta regarding Epstein’s 2008 plea agreement.
According to the memo, the source claimed that Acosta was told that Epstein “belonged to intelligence.” The memo goes on to claim, based on the source’s belief, that Dershowitz himself “was co-opted by the Mossad.”
Dershowitz has repeatedly denied allegations of intelligence ties or wrongdoing.
Trump’s real estate deal has been flagged
The report also discusses Trump’s purchase and resale of a Beverly Hills mansion, which the source described as having “numerous quirks and red flags.”
According to the memo, the property was purchased for approximately $800,000 below market value and later sold at a loss, with the source suggesting the transaction may have been aimed at money laundering.
The memo does not indicate that the FBI has confirmed or followed up on the claims.
No findings or conclusions
The FBI report clearly states that the information reflects the statements, beliefs and interpretations of a single confidential source.
It does not say that the FBI has confirmed the claims, reached investigative conclusions or found evidence of wrongdoing by Trump, Kushner, Chabad-Lubavitch, Israel or Russia.
