
Kalaburagi city police arrested a man involved in house burglary cases and recovered valuables worth ₹13.41 crore on Thursday.
Police Commissioner Sharanappa was addressing reporters in Kalaburagi on Thursday. S. Dhage said he stole about 100g of gold ornaments worth ₹13,000, 200g of silver worth ₹16,000 and the motorcycle used in the crime worth ₹25,000. The accused was taken into judicial custody.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Arif, an Arab teacher from Bilalabad Colony, allegedly broke into three houses under Gulbarga University police station limits and took away gold and silver ornaments.
Mr Dhage said the accused was a first-time offender; when questioned, the accused claimed that he was forced to commit the burglary to deal with his financial burden. The police officer said Mohammad Arif’s modus operandi was to conduct reconnaissance during the day and target locked dwellings located in isolated locations and commit burglaries during night hours.
