Excise team seizes 106g of MDMA in Thiruvananthapuram; one arrested
Revenue officials arrested a youth in Vilapilsala, Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday with alleged possession of 106 grams of MDMA.
The accused was identified as Aromal, a native of Aryanada. The arrests were made as part of the Excise Department’s ongoing Operation Toofan, which has seen intensified checks across the district in recent days. The operation was carried out by a special excise duty enforcement and anti-narcotics unit.
According to official sources, the contraband was recovered from the motorcycle of the accused, who was also taken into custody. Investigators are looking into whether Aromal has links with other drug networks operating in Nedumangad, Aryanad and Malayinkeezhu, including those targeting educational institutions.
The arrest comes a day after two young men were arrested near Puthenkada along the NH-66 bypass, allegedly with nearly 55g of MDMA.
