AISF will visit welfare hostels across the state from September 21 to 28

The All India Students Federation (AISF) State Committee on Sunday, September 20, 2026 announced that it will conduct a statewide visit to SC, ST, BC, Minority, Gurukul and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) welfare hostels from September 21 to 28.

Addressing a press conference, the state general secretary of the federation, B. Naserji, said that students staying in welfare hostels across the state were facing several problems. Though the government has announced an elaborate meal plan, it has failed to raise mess charges in line with rising prices of essential commodities, he claimed.

“Several welfare hostels lacked basic amenities like windows, fans, lights and building walls,” he said, adding that students had not received suitcases and blankets even though the academic year had started.

Citing the recent observation of the state Supreme Court on the problems prevalent in welfare hostels, the federation leader said that some girls’ hostels do not even have guards. He said there were more than 30 cases where welfare hostel students had to be admitted to hospitals.

The AISF chief also demanded immediate release of pending mess and cosmetic charges and their revision in line with the prevailing prices of essential commodities. He also demanded that good quality rice be supplied to students staying in welfare hostels.

He said that members of the federation would visit these hostels to identify the problems faced by the students and based on the findings, the organization would launch a massive agitation to seek immediate measures to solve the problems.

AISF State Vice President Sai Kumar, Vijayawada City President Jagadeesh, Secretary Ranjith, Shanmukh leaders Priya, Raju, Yashwanth and others were present.
