Almost 45% of contributions remain unoccupied in various autonomous bodies under the Ministry of Ayush, commissioned by the development, research and promotion of traditional and alternative medicine systems across the country, the Minister of Foreign Affap Rao Jadhav informed Parliament 1.
Until March this year, only 2,977 were filled in 5,361 sanctioned functions and the remaining 2,384 positions were unoccupied. MP Harish Chandra Meen was looking for information as an awkward question in Lok Sabha.
Neiafmr, itra among institutions with the most vacancies
This staffing is particularly acute in some institutions such as the North East Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (Neiafmr), Pasighat, where more than 95% of the contributions remain empty and the Institute for Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, with almost 59% free. Larger institutions, such as the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRA) and the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), also face a large number of vacancies despite their high sanctioned power.
NeiafMR has 86 vacancies out of 90 sanctioned functions, while the ITRA has 318 vacancies, due to its 539 assigned. CCRUM New Delhi has 345 free posts out of 766 assigned, while CCRAS new Dill has 1,708 posts, 894 remain empty. Nium, Bangalore has 101 vacancies out of 212 sanctioned functions.
On the contrary, some institutions have reached a strong level of staff, such as the National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai, with 95 out of 105 functions occupied and Central Research Council in Siddha (CCRS), Chennai, where 224 out of 251 positions are occupied.
“The necessary measures in the awarding of free positions in various autonomous bodies under the Ministry of Ayush are taken by the autonomous authorities concerned in accordance with their relevant recruitment rules (RRS) and a specified procedure,” the ministry said.

The Ayush Ministry announced a recruitment event for more than 300 vacancies in various departments. Inteed candidates can apply online through the official CCRAS.NIC.in website. Applications are on 31 August 2025.
