Republican Rep. Nancy Mace claimed that Hillary Clinton responded “unhinged” to a question about provocative photos of Bill Clinton that appeared in Jeffrey Epstein’s files, the New York Post reported.
The Clintons are facing intense scrutiny after the US Department of Justice (DOJ) released millions of documents related to Epstein, the late and convicted sex offender. The latest tranche of files, which included over three million pages and 180,000 images and 2,000 videos, revealed Epstein’s financial dealings, his contacts and his connections to several high-profile figures, including former US President Bill Clinton, who will testify on Friday (local time).
Hillary Clinton Testimony
Mace said Hillary Clinton was screaming and unhinged, adding that she hopes Bill Clinton is less unhinged today than his wife was yesterday.
Mace, who asked Hillary on Thursday (local time) about her feelings when she saw the photos released by the Justice Department, said Hillary reportedly replied, “We’re not here to discuss my feelings.”
Testifying in closed-door testimony, Hillary Clinton claimed she had “no idea” about Epstein’s crimes, adding: “I have no recollection of ever meeting Mr. Epstein. I have never flown on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices. I have nothing to add to that.”
The wife of a former US president has accused Republicans of putting on “partisan political theater” with their questions. After her testimony, she told reporters in New York that she answered all questions as honestly as she could based on what she knew. She also complained that Republicans were getting off topic and kept asking her about UFOs and the now debunked Pizzagate conspiracy theory.
The Bill Clinton-Epstein Connections
The release of Epstein’s files has thrust the former president, who, like many other high-profile figures, has denied any wrongdoing into the spotlight.
The documents, which were released on January 30, highlighted the name of Bill Clinton, who, however, claimed he had cut ties with Epstein before he was convicted of soliciting prostitution in 2008.
The files have revealed several never-before-seen photos, one of which shows them smiling backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in Hong Kong.
In another photo, Clinton is seen in a hot tub; however, part of this image is obscured by a black rectangle. In the third picture, the former US president is seen in a pool with a woman.
In her 2024 memoir, Citizen: My Life After the White House, Clinton expressed regret for her association with Epstein, adding that she had no knowledge of the crimes he had committed.
Although he was not charged with any crime or wrongdoing and was not formally investigated, the revelations show how Clinton’s world collided with Epstein’s in the early 2000s, who used his plane for his humanitarian work related to the Clinton Foundation.
