The Provisional Fund of Provisional Funds (EPFO) has improved the automatic settling limit for preliminary requirements from 1 Lakh currently to 5 lakh. The Minister of Labor Mansukh Mandaviya told journalists on Tuesday that this step would help the lakhs of EPFO members to receive funds faster, especially in times of urgent need.
The Minister said the EPFO first introduced automatic preliminary claims during the COVID-19 pandemic to give the members quick financial assistance. “Since then, the facility has been extended to cover preliminary requirements for diseases, education, marriage and housing purposes. These claims are automatically processed by the system without any person involvement, which ensures rapid turnover and transparency,” he said.
He said EPFO had made a number of reforms to accelerate their services, transparent and user -friendly. Mr. Mandaviya added that in 2024–25 he processed the EPFO a record 2.34 crore preliminary requirements through automatic settlement, which is 161% increase compared to 89.52 Lakh demands in 2023–24.
“In particular, 59% of all preliminary claims in 2024–25 were settled through automotive regime compared to 31% in 2023-24. Furthermore, in the first 2.5 months FY 2025–26, 76.52 Lakh claims said,” he said.
