The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the inclusion of the 30-year-old fast bowler on Tuesday 14 July during the first ODI at Edgbaston. His return boosts the pace of England’s attack ahead of the final two matches of the series.
Recovered from IPL injury, available for last two ODIs
Carse was sidelined after sustaining wrist and elbow injuries while batting in the nets for Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the start of IPL 2026. The setback sidelined him for several months before he began his comeback.To assess his readiness for international cricket, the England selectors watched his performances in the Vitality Blast, where he made three appearances for Durham. The call-up marks Carse’s first ODI selection since England’s tour of New Zealand in November 2025. The right-arm seamer has represented England in 30 ODIs, claiming 34 wickets.Having regained full fitness, Carse is now available for selection for the remaining matches of the series, with the second ODI scheduled in Cardiff on Thursday 16 July, followed by the series finale at Lord’s on Sunday 19 July.
India ended England’s winning streak at Edgbaston
India ended England’s remarkable 12-year unbeaten run in men’s ODIs with a convincing six-wicket win in the 1st ODI at Edgbaston.
