Tech billionaire Elon Musk announced on Thursday that at the end of May he plans to withdraw from his role in the administration of Donald Trump after supervising a massive reduction in US deficit of $ 1 trillion. Musk, which was brought as a “special government employee” for a 130 -day term, was head of the government’s efforts to reduce costs as the head of the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DUGE).
MUSK: “Revolution in government”
In an interview with Fox News, Elon Musk described his term as a historical revision of federal expenditure.
“It’s a revolution. And I think it could be the greatest revolution in the government since the original revolution,” he said. “At the end of the day, America will be in a much better shape. It will be a fantastic future.”
Musk, 53, also leading Tesla and SpaceX, and his own social media platform, was awarded and criticized for his aggressive approach to reducing government expenditure. DOGE, an agency occupied by engineers and entrepreneurs, has released tens of thousands of federal workers and reduced funds to various programs.
Musk confirms the 130 -day term of office
Asked if he would stay outside the 130 -day term, Musk said he believed that his work would be largely completed until then.
“I think in this time we will do most of the work needed to reduce the deficit by $ 1 trillion,” he said.
DOGE claims on its website that since March 27 it has saved Americans $ 130 billion or approximately $ 807 for a taxpayer.
Waste and fraud reduction: “is a reducing 15%decrease”
Musk and his team of seven DOGE members – Steve Davis, Joe Gebbia, Aram MoGhaddassi, Brad Smith, Anthony Armstrong, Tom Kraus and Tyler Hassen – in various government agencies have done their efforts to reduce waste, fraud and abuse.
“We want to reduce expenditures by removing waste and fraud and reduce expenditures by 15 percent, which seems really achievable,” Musk told the executive Editor Special Report Bret Baier.
“The government is not effective and there are plenty of waste and fraud. So we are sure that 15 % of the reduction can be done without affecting any critical government service.”
Federal Credit Card: “It’s clear that it doesn’t make sense”
One of the key areas that DOGE focused on is the use of a federal credit card. According to Duge Steve Davis, there is approximately 4.6 million federal government credit cards for approximately 2.3 to 2.4 million employees.
“It doesn’t make sense,” Davis said. “So one of the things that all teams worked on is that we worked for agencies and said,” Do you need all these credit cards? Are used? Can you physically tell us where they are? “”
Musk agreed and called the situation absurd.
“It is obvious that there should be no more credit cards than people,” he said.

Critics require supervision
Despite the demands on the effectiveness of administration, critics say Doga has received too much power and lacks proper supervision. Opponents say Muska’s team canceled federal contracts and carried out cuts without congress consent.
Musk, however, rejected the criticism and said his team carefully access to each decision.
“They can characterize it as a hip shooting, but it’s something other than that,” Musk said. “We measure twice, not if three times, and we cut.”
He also acknowledged the possibility of errors.
“Which doesn’t mean we’re not making mistakes. If we got to it with the standard, how not to make mistakes, it would be like saying that someone in baseball has to burn a thousand. That’s impossible.
