Eight injured after a burst tire caused a three-car pile-up on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Expressway

At least eight people were injured in a three-vehicle collision on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway near Gundrampally in Chityala mandal of Nalgonda district on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, a car traveling towards Vijayawada suffered a tire burst and the driver lost control. The vehicle crossed the median and overturned on the road leading towards Hyderabad.

Two cars traveling towards Hyderabad then hit the overturned vehicle causing all three vehicles to overturn.

The injured were taken to the Chouuppal Government Hospital for treatment. Their identities and the extent of their injuries were not immediately known.

The accident led to a traffic jam stretching for nearly five kilometers on the Hyderabad-bound road.

Personnel from the Traffic Police and the National Highways Authority of India reached the spot, cleared the damaged vehicles and started gathering details to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
