In a major operation, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Friday (March 13, 2026) raided an illegal drug manufacturing unit at Kondapalli Industrial Development Area (IDA) in NTR district.
DRI sleuths seized 237 kg of Alprazolam tablets, 800 kg of raw materials and 2,860 kg of various chemicals which were secretly used to manufacture the drugs.
As part of ‘Operation White Hammer’, DRI officials raided a private chemical factory that manufactured Alprazolam tablets, a psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act, 1985.
Besides, a centrifuge, dryers, reactors and other industrial equipment were seized from the unauthorized drug factory, DRI officials said.
Investigating officers have arrested a Hyderabad-based senior chemist and his associate in the operation.
DRI officers are trying to find out how long the factory was in operation, who was buying alprazolam stock from illegal manufacturers and other details.
