The Karnataka of the State Commission for Women received two petitions related to the case of Dharmasthal on Friday, the other from BJP and the second from women’s rights activists.
The opposition of BJP has asked for alleged social activists notes Girish Mattananavar that women who are married in Dharmasthale are sexually harassed.
Meanwhile, another petition should be brought by a delegation of activists for women’s rights, who also sought that “the culprits for the disappearance, rape and murder of women in Dharmasthale”. The team also announced the opening of the national campaign demanding justice for women and girls who allegedly “disappeared” from the region over the last four decades.
The BJP delegation, led by its vice -president Bengalur North Kaši Kaši Kedarnath, appealed to the commission on Friday to investigate the alleged statements of Mr. Mattannavar and order the Jurisdictory Police to register against him.
Mr. Mattananavar publicly claimed that women who were married in Dharmasthale were exposed to sexual assault and abominable crime. The BJP petition called Mr. Mattannavar unfounded and harmful. “He used a sweeping claim that indicates that the newlywed brides are exploited, which is an outrageous and unfounded accusation that he intends to be sensational,” said Mrs. Kedarnath.
On the other hand, a petition of female law activists expressed concern about several developments after the establishment of SIT to deal with alleged mass funeral cases in the region. The statement of “prejudices of public statements of higher ministers and protests of political parties undermines the neutrality of SIT”, demanded that “comprehensively explore the cases that have occurred in the last 20 years”.
