The newly installed statue of former Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Bannur Road in Mysuru has drawn criticism for not bearing much resemblance to the late leader, prompting calls for rectification.
Soon after its recent unveiling, several elected representatives and members of the public pointed out that the statue did not accurately capture Devaraj Ursa’s facial features. Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who expressed similar concerns, said on Wednesday that necessary modifications should be made to better match the statue to the former chief minister.
“Care should have been taken to ensure that the statue reflects the features of the Devaraj Urs. Such mistakes should not occur. Any necessary repairs must be done now,” said Mr. Yaduveer.
AH Vishwanath, MLC, was among those who demanded a review, saying public opinion must be respected.
