Demand for ₹10,000 per month pension for retired SCCL workers gains momentum
PEDDAPALLI
The long-pending demand of retired workers of the state-run Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to increase their monthly pension to ₹ 10,000 has gathered momentum ahead of the two-day ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ of Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy starting on Monday.
Mr. Kishan Reddy, accompanied by BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao and other party leaders, is scheduled to tour Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial and Peddapalli districts on July 13 and 14. The yatra assumes significance in the wake of the Centre’s recent decision to allot Tadi co-block to SCCL.
Meanwhile, Peddapalli MP G. Vamsi Krishna again urged the Union minister to announce a monthly pension of ₹ 10,000 for retired SCCL employees during his tour of the state’s coal belt. Mr. Vamsi Krishna has consistently raised the issues of SCCL workers as well as retired employees both in Parliament and in public forums.
Referring to the reported allocation of Tadicherla-II coal block, SCCL urged the Center to expedite all necessary approvals to facilitate the early start of the project.
The Tadicherla Block-II project has the potential to substantially increase SCCL’s coal production and create significant employment opportunities for the local youth.
