Delhi Weather LIVE: Rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning, marking an end to scorching conditions as the Southwest Monsoon advanced to cover the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light rains, overcast skies and strong surface winds and issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR on 2 July.

IMD issues nowcast red warning

At 6:45 am, the weather agency issued a red alert warning of the possibility of rain in the next three hours in parts of Central, East, New Delhi, North, North East, North West, Shahdar, South, South East, South West and West Delhi.

“Moderate thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds (60-80 km/h gusting up to 100 km/h) accompanied by light to moderate rain at most places and light rain at many places over Delhi during next 3 hours,” said the advisory till 10 am.

As the city braces for thunderstorms and lightning today, residents can expect a gradual drop in maximum and minimum temperatures of 5-7°C and 3-5°C respectively over the next 2 days. On July 2, the maximum temperature over Delhi is likely to settle anywhere between 32°C to 34°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 22°C to 24°C.
