Delhi Ramlila lights up 30-foot ‘cockroach’ effigy of Ravana as ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative amid CJP protests | Today’s news

This Dussehra, Delhi will witness a 30-feet high effigy of a ‘cockroach’ being burnt along with Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad in Ramlila, PTI reported. The Shree Keshav Ram Leela Committee, which holds the Ramlila in Pitampura, said the insects represent “filth and filth”.

Speaking to PTI, the committee described their initiative as part of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Swachh Delhi’ campaigns.

The move comes amid several protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) across the country.

However, Ashok Goel, committee president and BJP MLA, told a news agency that the decision was apolitical.
