Delhi Court issued a notice of the Minister of Finance of the Union of Nirmal Sitharaman in the case of criminal defamation filed against her Lipik Mitra, wife of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of Somnath Bharti.
Another chief judge (ACJM) Paras Dalal of Rouse Avenue Courts on Thursday, May 22) issued Mrs. Sitharaman notification.
“The value is in the stage of knowledge and in accordance with the first provision of section 223 BNSS has the proposed accused the opportunity to be heard,” the court said.
The complainant claimed that during surveys by Lok Sabha in 2024, the Minister had made and published a slanderous, derogatory and insult notes in printed and electronic media against it and were broadcast on two television channels.
It is said that the statement of the Minister of the Union was intended to introduce the complainant’s spouse and influence his chances of winning the new parliamentary constituency as an Indian candidate for a block. He added that the statement caused Mr. Bharti to immense mental anxiety and damaged his public position as a elected representative.
The case is administered according to sections 356 (1) and 356 (2) of BNS. Another hearing of the case will be held on 12 June.
