A group of sugar cane cultivators attached to the former private sugar mill in Thirumandankadi in the Thanjavur district attempted to show black flags to the main Minister MK Stalin during her visit to Thanjavur.
Demonstrators waiting near the new bus stand on the Thanjavur-Tiruchi road came to the road that waved a black cloth when the main minister’s convoy was going to cross the new bus stand. However, they were overwhelmed by the police and arrested. All 12 sugar cane growers coming from Thirumandankadi and nearby areas were later released in the evening.
