Finn Allen got all the plaudits for his sensational hundred during the clash between DC and KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, but Cameron Green played an important role in him reaching the milestone. Of course everyone would watch it 116-run stand between the duowhere Green contributed 33 runs off 27 balls. But it was the Australian all-rounder’s quick calculations that helped Allen reach his maiden hundred.

But Green had a hilarious reason for choosing to consciously play second fiddle during the partnership. Speaking to the broadcasters after the match, Green said he didn’t want to be the most hated man in Kolkata, so he did all the calculations himself while Allen went wild at the other end.
“I think I counted it when we were 29. So yes, I knew I would be the most hated man in Calcutta if I did anything but that.
“No, we don’t. I was, I did the math. But no, Finn is also very good at math, so I’ll give him credit. So he was probably doing the same thing,” Green said.
“FINNSANITY NOT SURPRISED”
Allen scored 100 off just 47 balls to help KKR register an eight-wicket win against DC to be four on the trot and continue their revival.
The New Zealand opener struggled in the opening phase of the tournament and found himself out of the squad. Another problem was that he had never ruled out a power play in any game he had played up to that point.
He took a cautious approach in the first six overs and then proceeded to take down the DC bowlers with ease to complete the game in 5.4 overs.
Green had the best seat in the house and said Allen is one of the best in the world when it comes to launching a calculated attack on bowlers after the powerplay.
The KKR all-rounder said he was not surprised by the frenzy that Green eventually created.
“Finn was exceptional today. He’s been really good for us – every time he’s been out he’s had amazing starts. That’s exactly why we got him in the team.”
“He’s one of the best in the world to do that and create pressure and you know when he’s 30 or 40 it’s very hard to get out because he just keeps going. He never really tries to control it.”
“I wasn’t surprised by what he did tonight. He’s been training really hard and I think he’s developed a really good way of going about it. I’m so happy for him and it was so good to watch out at the other end,” Green said.
KKR will travel to Raipur to face RCB on May 13.
