Craft fair for Bonal festivities will be launched at HMDA premises on July 16

A state-level handicraft exhibition and sales fair will be held at the HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad from July 16 in connection with the Ashada Bonalu festival, said Transport Minister and BC Ponnam Prabhakar.

The aim of the fair is to provide a single platform for devotees to purchase a wide range of handicraft and traditional products required for Bonal celebrations.

As Bonalu is not only an important spiritual festival but also a celebration of the culture, arts and crafts of Telangana, the fair will enable artisans from various traditional professions including potters, blacksmiths, carpenters and others.

The exhibition will present various items used in the Bonal festivities. He said that the fair will contribute to the economic development of traditional artisans while helping to preserve the traditional arts and crafts of Telangana.

The minister said that more artisans will participate this year compared to the previous year, while a larger number of stalls are being prepared. He added that a wider spectrum of traditional professional groups is given greater priority.

The exhibition is organized under the auspices of the Department of Rural Development and the Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP). The minister appealed to the devotees visiting Hyderabad during the Bonal festivities to visit the fair and support the families of artisans by buying their products.
