Employees of US-based CorroHealth Infotech Private Limited, who were terminated without notice, will have access to the company’s Kochi office until a meeting between Kerala Labor Minister Bindhu Krishna and key company officials on July 10.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Uma Thomas, MLA, Safna Nazarudeen, labor commissioner, representatives of employees, unions and the company’s legal representative in Kochi on Monday.

Employees who showed up at the office around 9:00 a.m. were denied entry as security at the coworking space informed them they had been instructed by the company not to allow them inside.

About 800 employees at the firm, which provides healthcare analytics and technology-driven solutions to hospitals and health systems, were shocked after receiving a “severance and full and final settlement” email last Friday when they reported for duty.

Ms Thomas said staff would enter the office from Tuesday and have access to all facilities without any barriers, as assured by the firm’s legal representative.

The labor commissioner said the government would not initiate any action against the company until talks were convened by the labor minister in Kochi on Friday (July 10).

The workers, who had been waiting outside the office since morning, were later allowed to enter the premises after union representatives, including the Democratic Youth Federation of India, the All India Trade Union Congress, the Center for Indian Trade Unions and the Indian National Trade Union Congress, protested. They urged the state government and the Center to take immediate steps to restore employment, pointing out that termination of employment without prior notice was a violation of workers’ rights.
