Congress workers are looking for a cabinet slot for Belur Gopala Krishna

Shivamogga

Supporters of Congress MLA for Sagar, Belur Gopala Krishna, on Monday urged the party high command to induct him into the state cabinet.

Addressing reporters in Shivamogga, Congress leader BR Jayanth claimed that the party had earlier given Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa an opportunity to serve as a minister for three years. During his tenure as Education Minister, Bangarappa initiated several initiatives, notably the decision to expand Karnataka Public Schools across the state. “Belur Gopala Krishna, who has been elected to the assembly thrice, deserves a similar opportunity,” said Mr. Jayanth. “He enjoys strong support across all communities and has the backing to lead effectively as a minister,” he added.

Responding to a question, Mr. Jayanth said that Congress party workers spread across Sagar and Hosanagar taluks want Mr. Gopala Krishna to be inducted into the Cabinet. However, they were not against inducting Mr. Bangarappa into the Cabinet. “We are happy if both are inducted into the cabinet. However, if the party decides to accommodate only one of them, our choice is Belur Gopala Krishna,” he added. Several party leaders from Sagar and Hosanagar taluks were present at the press conference.
