Collector seeks five-year data as SC commission prepares Visakhapatnam review on July 14

Preparations are underway for the visit of the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Commission to Visakhapatnam district on 14 July 2026 and the officials have been asked to compile the details for review.
District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore has directed all departments to provide detailed information for a meeting in which the commission’s chairman, members and secretary will review the functioning of welfare, statutory safeguards and grievance redressal schemes for scheduled castes.
The officials were asked to submit department and year related information for the last five years.
The Collector sought details on the functioning of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, land-related matters relating to Scheduled Castes, enforcement of reservation norms and disposal of petitions received through the Public Grievance Redressal Scheme.
Unions were also asked to provide information on welfare recipients and reports submitted to the Commission. Mr. Kishore directed the officials to complete all arrangements for the visit.
