Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who completed two years in office on Sunday after his historic victory in the 2023 Assembly elections, said dreaming big for the nation and working for the public good requires immense courage and determination and the people of Telangana gave him both.
In a message to four million people during his two years in office, Mr. Reddy explained the initiatives he had taken and the promises he had fulfilled during that period, and expressed his gratitude to them for giving him the courage, the mandate that enabled the Congress government to take the lead and push an ambitious agenda for the state’s future.
Reflecting on the government’s two-year journey, Mr Reddy said he had worked “day and night, without a break” to put Telangana on a higher pedestal. He said the youth, who were “gasping under the failure of the previous bad governance” had been given a new lease of life through massive recruitment. Farmers, burdened with debt and distress, were supported in ways that became a model for the whole country.
The CM highlighted key social measures including financial support to girls and women, initiatives to uplift backward communities and introduction of caste census and community categorization. These, he said, brought meaningful recognition to the long-standing demands of marginalized groups such as the Madiga community.
He also highlighted reforms in education, calling them a real “weapon of livelihood”. Among the major initiatives launched during this period were the creation of Young India Integrated Model Schools, along with the establishment of Skill University and Sports University. He also noted the official recognition recently given to the popular song “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” as per public demand.
He listed a number of social programs implemented in the last two years, including distribution of fine rice, Indiramma housing, 200 units of free electricity, free bus travel for women, subsidized cooking gas of ₹500, bonus of ₹500 for quality paddy rice and a landmark initiative to enable one million girls to receive financial support.
Unveiling the sweeping future vision, Mr. Reddy said the policies and programs being prepared under ‘Telangana Rising’ are to change the position of the state globally. He described the upcoming Bharat Future City project as a launching pad for the next phase of Telangana’s accelerated development.
“Until yesterday, Telangana had one identity. After the Telangana Global Summit, it will have a completely new identity,” he said, expressing confidence that the event would usher in a new era of global engagement and investment.
