Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in a series of X posts on Monday, alleging ‘police brutality’, showed pictures of protesters being ‘lathi-charged’ during the ‘Chalo Sansad’ protest march in Delhi. The unit further claimed that police used tear gas shells to “crush” the protesters and asked if it was a “war zone”. It also claimed that the police were pelting stones at them.

“POLICE ARE USING TEAR GAS TO CRUSH PROTESTS. These visuals are reminiscent of an authoritarian regime – not democracy. Our democratic right to protest for our future, our education is being tear gassed right now,” CJP said on X.
The CJP claimed that footage from the Parliament area shows security personnel taking up firing positions. The organization urged the authorities not to use force against the protesting youth, saying the protesters were only seeking answers for student deaths allegedly linked to government failure. “Plain-clothed officers carrying lathis were spotted excitedly preparing to take out their next targets. No uniform, no identity cards, just armed to protect Dharmendra Pradhan’s kursi,” it claimed.

In a post on X, Delhi Police urged protesters to maintain peace, exercise restraint and cooperate with security personnel to help maintain law and order. The force urged participants to refrain from any illegal or violent activities and to follow legal instructions issued by officers deployed at protest sites.

“Some segments of the media have mentioned sporadic use of violence/detention at Jantar Mantar by the Delhi Police. It is informed that no such incident has taken place and the protest is being handled professionally. All are requested not to pray for any rumours/lenses and to assist the Delhi Police in maintaining peace and order in and around the venue,” Delhi Police said on X.

Sit-in protest continues at Jantar Mantar, says CJP
Meanwhile, in a post on X, the CJP alleged that police personnel took control of the protest stage and dismantled it, leaving behind a portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar, a copy of the Indian Constitution, Shriramcharitmanas, a Bible and a small idol of Babasaheb Ambedkar lying on its side. The organization further claimed that the day’s events amounted to a brutal attack on India.
He mentioned that Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Sonam Wangchuka’s wife Gitanjali were still continuing their protest at Jantar Mantar and noted that the “brave” protesters were also back at the protest site.
“Despite police brutality, brave CJP protesters are back at Jantar Mantar. Delhi, come out and join us at Jantar Mantar – it’s now or never! Dharmendra Pradhan must resign!” said the CJP.
