Rajesh Mall, father of a NEET aspirant who died by suicide in Uttarakhand last month, lamented that the government did not listen to the protesters who took part in the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) march to Parliament on Monday.
“I will take my daughter (photo) wherever such protests seek government responsibility are held Whether they listen or not, I will be my daughter’s voice,” says Mall in a video interview with Peek TV.
Mall is a veteran of the 1999 Kargil War and hails from UttaraKhand. He was part of the CJP march from Amber Mantar to parliament on Monday. His daughter Riya Kumari Thapa, a 23-year-old NEET aspirant from Dehradun, died by suicide in June.

Mall expressed disappointment that the government did not even express regret over the death of the students.“The biggest tragedy is that the government has not even expressed regret yet.”
He she said Monday’s protest, which drew thousands of people, was a tribute to everyone, including her daughter, who died by suicide. “At least that many people came to protest while the government is not listening. That’s why I’m here. Maybe the country will wake up and maybe he will (Dharmendra Pradhan) will resign,” he said.
Riya, a 23-year-old NEET aspirant from Dehradun
Riya died by suicide at her residence in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun on 16 June. A suicide note was allegedly found in her room. “I love you mom, dad. No one’s fault,” she reportedly wrote in Hindi.
Senior police officer Ankit Kandari said frustration over lack of academic success appeared to be the primary reason for the extreme step.
The National Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions held on May 3 has been canceled due to allegations of a paper leak. The retest took place on June 21.
