CJP Protest News LIVE: The Center has accepted the key demands of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), prompting the youth-led organization to call off a nationwide agitation after weeks of protests over exam paper leaks. The breakthrough came after the third round of talks between the CJP’s representatives and Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, where the government agreed to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, withdrawal of police cases against protesters and compensation to the families of students who died by suicide.
Dharmendra Pradhan resigns
Pradhan resigned on Saturday, describing his decision as in the interest of students and the country, while senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi was given the additional charge of the education ministry. The CJP said the two sides would meet again in four weeks to discuss wider reforms to the examination system.
The government’s resignation represents one of the biggest political concessions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure and caps one of the biggest youth-led protest movements in recent years, even as issues around exam reforms, employment and accountability continue to dominate the national conversation.
Pralhad Joshi the new Education Minister
Senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Education Ministry after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Joshi will continue to hold the portfolios of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy.
Updated list of CJP demands
Following the announcement of the resignation, CJP posted an updated list of their requests for X, where they stated, “CJP’s request faucet has been updated:
– Dharmendra Pradhan must resign – ✅
– ₹1 Cr to families of all students who died by suicide – Pending
– No action against any of the student protesters – pending
– Public apology from RAF and Delhi Police – pending
