The Central Information Commission has recommended the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to include sub-caste details in the final civil services examination lists to better assess how the benefits of the reservation policy are distributed among caste groups.
The recommendation came while disposing of the second appeal filed by an RTI applicant seeking caste details of candidates selected for the Indian Civil Service through the 1995 examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
