Chittoor police arrested a 42-year-old man in a POCSO case within a day

The Chittoor district police on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) night arrested a 42-year-old man within 24 hours of registering a case of allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in Bangarupalyam mandal, Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said.

According to the police, the incident happened on July 17. The minor reported the alleged assault to her parents, after which her mother filed a complaint at the Bangarupalyam police station on the night of July 20.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 65(1), 75(2), 78(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Section 4 as amended by Section 3(b). a) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) of 2012.

Special police teams working under the supervision of Deputy SP (Palamanera) Degala Prabhakar nabbed the accused near the Paleru flyover on the night of July 21. He was later taken into judicial custody. The SP lauded the Bangarupalyam police team for their swift action.
