Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao said on Thursday (October 30) that timely decisions by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu helped the state minimize the effects of Cyclone Montha. In a press release, the MP said that the Chief Minister’s early preparedness measures, including the evacuation of endangered families and constant monitoring of the situation, helped prevent major loss of life.
He noted that the government has announced ₹3,000 as assistance to each family in relief camps and distribution of essentials like rice, pulses, oil and vegetables. The CM also announced ₹5,000 lakh ex gratia to the families of the victims and ordered an assessment of crop damage in 87,000 hectares.
The MP added that the Chief Minister had conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas and directed officials to continue relief and recovery efforts. He appreciated the local MLAs and officials in Chittoor parliamentary segment for their coordination during the cyclone.
