Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy emphasized the responsibility of every Hindu to preserve the ancient temples as well as the rich heritage and culture of the country. Along with AP Endowments Minister Anam Ramanaraya Reddy, he laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple at Moolapet in Nellore on Wednesday (October 29).
He said, “The history of the Telugu people is unparalleled in India in various ways, including food, travel and behavior. Our Telugu script is still visible on the ancient temples of Srirangam and Madhurai in Tamil Nadu. The temples should be beautified to preserve the glory of the Telugu people.”
Chinna Jeeyar Swamy further said, “Ancient stone inscriptions, marbles and artefacts should be preserved and passed on to future generations as proof of our rich heritage. We should not forget the history of famous temples. Reconstruction of ancient temples pays tribute to our forefathers.”
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramanraya Reddy said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has entrusted him with the responsibility of constructing 27,000 temples in the state. He said that the reconstruction of temples across the state was started from the Venugopalaswamy temple. He said Dalits were allowed to enter temples in the state with the Venugopalaswamy temple.
The minister recalled that hundreds of weddings were held in the temple, which has a rich history and fame, and the temple was full of devotees. However, the temple lost its importance over time. He said the state government has sanctioned ₹17 crore for its renovation.
