The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) sought permission from the Delhi Police to protest at Jantar Mantar on 20 June, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over irregularities related to the investigation.
The CJP expressed confidence that his request would be approved. Earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had announced that the group would start an indefinite sit-in at Jantar Mantar until Pradhan stepped down.

In a statement issued on June 17, the party said it had completed all the formalities required by the police and submitted details of the proposed protest, including the number of volunteers and other logistical arrangements.

“We have formally informed the Delhi Police about a peaceful demonstration and dharna at Jantar Mantar on June 20, 2026. The Delhi Police said they will hear from us tomorrow morning. We are confident that the police will grant permission,” CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said.
In a video statement after meeting the officers, Das said he had spent the day at the Parliament Street police station completing procedural requirements related to the proposed protest.

“I have submitted the entire plan, required number of volunteers and all other formalities required by the police. We hope the Delhi Police will cooperate with us,” he said. Das said the CJP had assured the police of full cooperation and maintained that the protest would be peaceful.
“Like every other protest we have had at the national level, this protest will be a peaceful protest. People from all over the country will join us at Jantar Mantar to demand one thing – the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan,” he said.
“We have offered our full cooperation, so there is no reason why the Delhi Police should deny us our right to assemble peacefully at Jantar Mantar,” Das added. The unit also issued a ‘Chalo Dilli’ appeal to its supporters ahead of the proposed protest.

The group rose to prominence through social media campaigns and has since organized protests and outreach programs in several parts of the country.
The first CJP protest at Jantar Mantar was seen by thousands of people on June 6. Similar protests were later held in other states such as Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Amritsar and Nagpur, demanding Pradhan’s resignation.
The CJP has focused its campaign on alleged flaws in the education and examination system, particularly the controversies surrounding competitive exams like NEET, and is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Telegram banned in India till June 22
The government has temporarily banned the instant messaging app Telegram across India The ban comes after direct recommendations from the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding paper leaks and fraudulent trading. The app remains suspended across the country until June 22 before the upcoming one NEET (UG) 2026 Examination.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), acting on the recommendations of the NTA, has issued a direction under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, restricting access to the Telegram platform in India for a defined and limited period ending on June 22, 2026, covering the date of NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination and immediately thereafter.
On June 17, the Delhi High Court refused to grant Telegram an immediate interim injunction against the Centre’s temporary ban.
