The Freedom Center has opened the state’s first Property Rights Office in Tirupati to work in coordination with Schedule 22A victims.
“Lakhs of land owners are suffering across the state as they cannot enjoy their legally acquired property due to its inclusion in the draconian Schedule 22A. The Center will fight for them,” announced its chairman and former police officer AB Venkateswara Rao, who inaugurated the building on Annamayya Road in Tirupati on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Rao asked whether land users would have to wage war against the government to get their land out of the 22A list. The lands were included as early as 2010 and still remain inaccessible to their rightful owners, he said.
Meanwhile, the Centre’s convener Nallamothu Chakravarthy termed it a huge crisis caused by the government due to which the land owners were unable to sell the land bought with their hard-earned money. He also blamed politicians and financial officials for trying to take advantage of adversity and rob the public.
