Carlos Alcaraz is enjoying a beach holiday in Portugal amid a spell of injury lay-offs

Carlos Alcaraz seems to be spending his time away from the tennis court to the fullest. The Spanish superstar was recently spotted enjoying a beach holiday in Portugal as he continues to recover from a wrist injury that has sidelined him for a key part of the 2026 season.

Alcaraz spent time in Comporta, a popular coastal destination south of Lisbon, where he was seen relaxing with friends at JNcQUOI beach club on Praia do Pego. The 23-year-old has often chosen Portugal as a holiday destination between tournaments, using the quieter environment to recharge away from the limelight.

The holiday comes amid encouraging signs about his recovery. A recent video circulating on social media showed Alcaraz wearing a much smaller wrist brace than the bulky splint he was seen wearing in previous weeks, prompting optimism among fans about his rehab progress. While there is still no confirmed date for his return, images suggest that the injury is gradually healing.

CARLOS ALCARAZ STRUGGLES WITH INJURY

Alcaraz’s injury troubles began during the Barcelona Open in April, when he injured his right wrist during his opening-round victory over Otto Virtanen. The problem turned out to be more serious than originally expected, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament and subsequently miss the rest of the clay court season.

The failure also eliminated him from Roland Garroswhere he was the defending champion, and later Wimbledon, a tournament he won twice and finished runner-up in 2025. Alcaraz announced his retirement from the grass swing, admitting that although his recovery was progressing well, he was not yet ready to compete at the highest level.

Before the injury, Alcaraz enjoyed another impressive season. He compiled a 22-3 win-loss record and won titles at the Australian Open and Qatar Open, underscoring why he remains one of the leading figures in men’s tennis.

For now though, we’re more focused on recovery than trophies. And judging by the latest pictures from Portugal, Alcaraz seems determined to return fresh, fully fit and ready to challenge for the biggest prizes in the sport once again.
