
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Wednesday that with India’s energy demand growing faster than anywhere else in the world, Canada is well positioned to seize the opportunity as an energy superpower.
Carney shared his comments on X, along with a video clip of his recent remarks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to India.
“Energy demand in India is growing faster than anywhere else in the world. As an energy powerhouse, Canada is well positioned to take advantage of this opportunity,” Carney wrote on X.
Carney’s remarks come amid an unfolding energy crisis following the West Asian conflict in the wake of the US-Israeli attack on Iran.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday that India’s energy imports continue to flow from “various sources and routes” amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia that has triggered a massive energy crisis worldwide.
India’s energy demand is growing faster than anywhere else in the world. As an energy powerhouse, Canada is well poised to take advantage of this opportunity.
With oil and gas prices soaring and the Strait of Hormuz – a vital artery that transports 20 percent of the world’s oil and natural gas – effectively under the control of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, one-third of India’s natural gas imports have been cut off.
